How to Stay Healthy When the Weather is Hot and Cold

Categories: Healthy Lifestyle

The Philippines is an archipelago located in the tropical region, which explains why it only has two seasons: wet and dry. The wet season mostly consists of thunder storms that engulf the country in rain showers and flash floods. The dry season, on the other hand, is well-known for sunny days, which seem to go on forever.

However, it is also completely possible for these seasons to intermix, wherein Filipinos can experience rain in the morning and sunshine for the rest of the day – which causes them to get sick and take medicines for cough and cold.

But truth be told, it is not advisable for them to wait and let themselves develop these symptoms. They must take provisions in order to avoid getting ill in the first place. You can do that by doing the following:

Dress properly

One of the main reasons why Filipinos easily get sick during weather transitions is because they are not wearing the proper attire. This can be remedied by simply wearing layers. You can start by wearing something thin like a cotton t-shirt and then add in a jacket or a sweater afterwards, if the weather suddenly turned cool and wet. You can then remove them once the sun starts shining. By doing this, you won’t be caught unawares by the abrupt change in weather.

Rest well

The advice of getting seven to eight hours of sleep at night can be often heard and it’s in good reason. It will not only make you feel well-rested when you wake up in the morning to take on another day, but it will also boost and strengthen your immune system so it can battle all sorts of sickness as well as toxins from entering your body!

Exercise!

Doing exercises at least 30 minutes a day is a good idea not just for ensuring you remain in great shape, it will also be good for your overall health and immune system. Take time to do it daily outside so you can get a good dose of “vitamin” fresh air. A nice jog at the park will certainly do that trick!

If the weather does not cooperate, you can still do some exercises inside your house. You can watch different fitness videos in YouTube to give you an idea what to do.

Clean your air

Different symptoms of allergies can be triggered by sudden weather changes. This is why it is advisable for you to take time to clean your indoor air. You can do this by making sure your place is not filled with clutter. The dust and dust mites in and around your home can be greatly reduced by regularly cleaning your electric fans and air conditioning units. If you want to go the extra mile, you can install a humidifier or house plants. They are, after all, known for clearing all the toxins found in your air.

Drink lots of water

The last but most important thing you need to do in order to remain healthy despite the weather changes is to stay hydrated by drinking at least two litters of water a day. By doing this, you will flush out the diseases out of your body.

Fresh fruit juices filled with vitamin C is also a good idea to consume, if you want to boost your immune system. If you are suffering from sore throat, you can add in some honey into your juice drink.

Remember, it is completely possible to avoid getting sick, even when the weather goes hot and cold. Keep all these things in mind and you will remain in good health at all times!
